Wike Says Obi Will Remain a ‘Social Media’ President

Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has questioned the leadership abilities of Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, suggesting he is only fit to lead on social media and not Nigeria.

Speaking during the commissioning of two new roads—Esther Bali Street (ILS11) and Kez Udezue Street (MAR24)—in Mabushi, Abuja, Wike criticized Obi’s continuous attacks on the government. According to him, Obi lacks the integrity and experience to govern, citing his tenure as Governor of Anambra State.

“You cannot manage a simple political party, yet you aim to lead a nation of over 200 million people. It is not for people like you,” Wike stated, accusing Obi of hypocrisy. He added that Obi’s public displays of compassion do not match his record in Anambra.

Wike compared his two-year tenure in the FCT with Obi’s eight years in Anambra, claiming that while Obi prioritized personal gain, his administration has focused on tangible development. “If you had completed all your projects, there would be no need to highlight development. Instead, you left funds in the bank while the state suffered,” he said.

He also criticized Obi’s visits to schools and IDP camps, arguing that such gestures do not demonstrate genuine commitment to national development. Wike concluded: “Obi will continue to contest as president on social media, but not as Nigeria’s president.”
