Timi Frank: Declaring 93-Year-Old Paul Biya as Cameroon’s President Is an Insult to Democracy

Comrade Timi Frank, a former deputy national publicity secretary for the All Progressives Congress (APC), has denounced Paul Biya’s announcement that he won the most recent Cameroonian presidential election.

In a statement released in Abuja on Tuesday, Frank called the announcement of the 93-year-old Biya a blatant deception and an affront to democracy that everyone who values freedom and justice must reject.

“The so-called results announced by the regime are a fabrication and a clear subversion of the people’s will,” he declared.

“The world cannot watch helplessly as Cameroonian democracy is strangled in broad daylight.”

He bemoaned the shooting, violence, and widespread arrests of nonviolent demonstrators who took to the streets to protest the daylight robbery of their ballots.

Because they want their ballots to be counted, innocent Cameroonians are being massacred by their own security personnel.

“This violence needs to stop right now. International law requires that the people who planned and executed these murders be held personally responsible.

“The United Nations (UN) and the International Criminal Court (ICC) must look into and make sure that justice is served.”

He said that Issa Tchiroma Bakary, whose mandate represents the authentic will of the people, is still the true winner of the Cameroonian election.

He declared, “The international community must acknowledge this fact and put pressure on Paul Biya to step down.”
