The Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Alhaji Muhammad Sama’ila-Bagudo, has been kidnapped. The Kebbi State Police Command has quickly assembled a joint team consisting of police tactical units, military personnel, and local vigilantes to pursue the kidnappers and ensure his safe rescue in Bagudo Local Government Area.
According to reports, Bambu was kidnapped on Friday night in Bagudo, his birthplace in the state’s Bagudu Local Government Area.
In a statement released on Saturday in Birnin Kebbi, CSP Nafi’u Abubakar, the public relations officer for the Kebbi Command, revealed that the Deputy Speaker had been kidnapped by suspected bandits.
Abubakar claims that the congressman was kidnapped on Friday night at approximately 8:20 p.m. when a gang of armed men broke into Bagudo town and took him into custody just after he had performed the Isha’i prayer on his way home.
He said that Bello Sani, the state’s commissioner of police, had reaffirmed the command’s commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of state citizens.
“The joint team is currently combing the bandits’ routes and nearby forests with a view to rescuing the lawmaker unhurt and arresting the perpetrators of the dastardly act,” he declared.
“In order to maintain peace and stability in the state, the CP has also urged the public to continue being watchful and supporting the police and other security agencies.”
The state administration had not released a formal statement regarding the event or its most recent developments, and the kidnappers had not yet made their demands public.
