General Olufemi Oluyede, the recently appointed Chief of Defense Staff, has denied reports of the purported Christian massacre in Nigeria.
According to reports, President Donald Trump designated Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC) last week, further escalating the allegations of Christian genocide in Nigeria.
Additionally, the US President promised that the US military would step in if the Nigerian government does not put an end to the alleged persecution of Christians.
However, the CDS stated that there is no genocide against Christians, despite claims made by some US congressmen and religious freedom campaigners, shortly after a meeting with the National Security Adviser (NSA) on Monday.
He contended that terrorism, which has afflicted Nigeria for many years, is a worldwide problem.
“There is no Christian persecution in Nigeria,” he declared. That is what I want to reassure Nigerians. Nigeria has been dealing with instability, particularly terrorism, for a considerable amount of time now.
“To stop this act of terrorism within the nation, we have been working really hard.
“If there are nations that are prepared to assist Nigeria, we are prepared to include them in our efforts to stop terrorism in Nigeria.”
