Hon. Adewale Temitope Adedeji, a politician from Lagos, has criticized US President Donald Trump’s recent tough stance against Nigeria, arguing that the Bola Tinubu administration should receive praise, support, and international cooperation rather than threats.
In reaction to Trump’s condemnation and warning of potential U.S. military intervention over claimed persecution of Christians in Nigeria, Adedeji, who represents Ifako-Ijaiye Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly, made this message public on Friday, November 7.
The legislator contended that President Tinubu has taken strong action to address the nation’s security issues and is fully aware of them.
“As a father, President Bola Tinubu is not happy that bandits, terrorists, or whatever name they have, have tried to downplay the gains of this administration,” he said. For this reason, he gave the recently constituted service chiefs instructions to remove the nation’s insecurity. Terrorists and their backers will never be given special treatment by the current administration.
He stressed that the President’s recent reorganization of the military command demonstrates his dedication to stabilizing the country and reestablishing security in unstable areas.
According to Adedeji, Nigeria has made significant economic development in the past two years, drawing attention and investment from around the world.
“Different data have shown inflation dropping for the first time in years,” he added, citing macroeconomic indicators indicating signs of recovery. The administration has revitalized dormant businesses and drawn multibillion-dollar investments. Economic indexes consistently demonstrate that the government is headed in the right direction.
The legislator also pointed out that subnational governments now have more budgetary ability and that the value of the naira has improved.
“State governments are at ease for the first time because they have a certain amount of economic power,” he stated.
Instead than escalating tensions, Adedeji urged the US to work with Nigeria.
“At this point, Nigeria demands international cooperation from the United States and other countries for the benefit of our people. The legislator emphasized, “Let our youth and citizens continue to be patient and trust in the Renewed Hope Agenda.”
Adedeji asked Nigerians to keep up their support for the military and security services in their fight against terrorism.
“We need to push our new military chiefs to meet expectations and make sure they put an end to the nation’s militants. Knowing that the outcomes would best suit our desires, let’s support the government’s enormous efforts,” he continued.
