Tinubu and His Aides Shouldn’t Dismiss Trump’s Threat as Mere Rant – Eze Warns

Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, the former National Publicity Secretary of the now-defunct New Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP), has asked President Bola Tinubu to act decisively to combat banditry and terrorism in the nation.

Eze was responding to US President Donald Trump’s classification of Nigeria as a “country of particular concern.”

In a statement, Eze advised Tinubu to exercise prudence and refrain from taking on Trump’s problems, noting that the US is aware of the situation in Nigeria.

“This is not a statement we should take for granted unless we are claiming ignorance of the consequences we may face as a country should Trump walk out on his threat,” Eze stated.

“President Tinubu and his errand boys should approach Trump’s statement with all the gravity it merits, not as a gutter statement.

Given that Nigeria’s democracy has flourished for more than 26 years without interruption, Trump’s advice to Tinubu to “stop the killings of Christians in your country now or we will come in and do it for you” indicates that the US government has Nigerians’ best interests at heart.

For heaven’s sake, how could a reasonable person attempt to politicize an innocuous suggestion or interpret Trump’s remarks as divisive, careless, or anti-Islamic?

“Our common enemies are these terrorists, bandits, kidnappers, etc.” They are engaging in a variety of covert and horrible crimes against humanity, as well as killing, maiming, and destroying properties, farms, and cattle.

“Therefore, I urge the Tinubu administration to look inward with a view to adhering to Trump’s statement, instead of unleashing his attack dogs, fifth columnists, paper tigers, and propagandists on Trump.”
