Labour Party Ratifies 2024 Congresses, Fills Vacancies — Abure

The national officers chosen at the party’s 2024 national convention in Nnewi, Anambra State, have been reaffirmed by the National Executive Council (NEC) of the Julius Abure-led Labour Party group.

The announcement came after a meeting at the party’s national secretariat in Utako, Abuja, on Friday.

Julius Abure, the factional National Chairman, and Umar Farouk Ibrahim, the factional National Secretary, jointly signed a statement announcing this.

Members of the National Working Committee, state chairmen and secretaries, stakeholders, co-opted NEC members in accordance with Article 13(A) of the party constitution, and representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, attended the meeting, according to the statement.

NEC examined ongoing litigation, INEC’s stance on the exercise, and disputes related to the 2024 national convention in its resolutions.

The national treasurer, publicity secretary, financial secretary, legal advisor, organizing secretary, women leader, and youth leader are among the other officers who have been reaffirmed.

NEC also gave the national chairman and national secretary the authority to call a special convention if needed.

Plans to hold state, local, and ward congresses throughout the federation were also approved by the council.
