Yobe Police Take Action Amid School Closures, Issue Fresh Directives

As a preventative safety measure, the state government temporarily closed all boarding institutions, prompting the Yobe State Police Command to step up security efforts throughout the state.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Ado, announced the new security measures following a strategic security conference with Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), Heads of Departments, and members of the Command’s management team, according to a statement released on Monday by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim.

The discussion was focused at bolstering the state’s security architecture in response to increasing threats, notably around schools and important public assets.

During the conference, CP Ado issued operational directions for the rapid deployment of strengthened security techniques throughout schools, public buildings and communities in the state. He urged DPOs and tactical commanders to prepare specific action plans and strengthen engagement with community leaders, vigilante groups and neighbourhood watch associations to ensure inclusive and effective security coverage.

Additionally, the police commissioner stressed the significance of early warning systems, interagency cooperation, and intelligence-led policing.

He also ordered the enhancement of visibility policing, rigorous patrols, night detachments and rapid-response operations to enable swift involvement in the event of kidnapping, insurgency or other criminal threats.
