NBA Calls for Probe of Former NMDPRA Boss, Urges Allegations Not Be Used to Remove Dangote

An investigation into the accusations of corruption against Ahmed Farouk, the former Managing Director of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), has been demanded by the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).

According to reports, Farouk just resigned in response to allegations of economic sabotage and corruption leveled by Aliko Dangote, the richest man in Africa.

According to Dangote, Farouk spent millions of dollars on his children’s secondary school education in Switzerland using “taxpayers'” money.

Following a brief discussion with President Bola Tinubu, Farouk submitted his resignation.

The NBA President responded to the news in an appearance on Channels Television, saying that even though Ahmed resigned, an inquiry is still required.

He contended that either a thorough inquiry would be the best course of action or the accusation would be interpreted as a plot to remove the former head of NMDPRA.

“It will be unfair for me to take sides with any of the sides,” Osigwe declared.

The government and public officials are embarrassed by the situation. The ICPC said they will look into the accusation. Let’s not assume that someone was fired as a result of these accusations.

“Let a thorough investigation be conducted to either clear the man’s name or prove that he was corrupt or guilty of the accusations against him.”
