Activist lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, on Thursday berated President Bola Tinubu for insisting on the January 1 commencement of the New tax law in Nigeria despite controversies.
Adeyanju described the enforcement despite controversies of forgery and breach of the constitutional process as an insult to Nigeria and the rule of law.
The Nigerian government has been accused of having different Tax Reform form Act.
The one that was meant to be gazetted was said to be different from what Tinubu assented.
However, Adeyanju posted on X: “For President Tinubu to insist on implementing the disputed Tax Reform Act from today Jan 1, despite the controversies and issues of forgery/breaches of the constitutional process is an insult to the Nigerian nation and the concept of rule of law.
“Where did President Tinubu also get the power to unilaterally write off NNPC debts?”
