A fatal road crash involving a trailer has claimed the life of one passenger and left 87 others injured on the Potiskum–Azare Road in Potiskum Local Government Area of Yobe State.
The accident occurred at about 2 pm on Wednesday at the Potiskum entrance roundabout when the trailer, which was conveying passengers to the Potiskum Cattle Market, lost balance and overturned.
According to some survivors, the trailer was carrying close to 100 people from Katagum Local Government Area of Bauchi State to the cattle market when the incident occurred.
“We were coming from Azare to the Potiskum Cattle Market. As we got close to the roundabout, the driver tried to maneuver, and suddenly the trailer tumbled,” one of the survivors said.
The injured victims were rushed to the emergency unit of the Potiskum Specialist Hospital for medical attention.
The Public Relations Officer of the Yobe State Police Command, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, confirmed the incident.
