According to reports, Julius Abure’s dismissal as the Labour Party’s (LP) national chairman was upheld by the Federal High Court in Abuja.
Additionally, the Court directed the Independent National Electoral Commission, or INEC, to acknowledge the National Caretaker Committee, chaired by Senator Nenadi Usman, as the legitimate leadership of the party.
Human rights attorney Inibehe Effiong revealed the news in a post on X, claiming to have been present at the Federal High Court when the ruling in a similar case was made.
According to Effiong, Justice Lifu’s ruling on Wednesday confirmed that Abure’s term had ended in accordance with a previous Supreme Court ruling, upholding the Nenadi Usman-led committee as the only legitimate and legal head of the Labour Party.
As a result, the court ordered INEC to designate Nenadi Usman as the party’s leader right away.
“I am presently in front of the Federal High Court in Abuja for a case,” he wrote. I heard the verdict rendered in a different case.
The National Caretaker Committee, chaired by Senator Nnadi Esther Usman, was recently upheld by Honorable Justice Lifu as the only legitimate and legitimate leadership of the Labour Party.
The judge reiterated that Julius Abure’s term had ended by the Supreme Court’s ruling.
“The judge mandated that INEC immediately recognize Nnadi Usman.”
