Joe Igbokwe, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has bemoaned the ongoing devastation of Ndigbo mansions in Lagos State.
Igbokwe stated in a post on his official Facebook page that he has gotten a lot of calls from other Igbo people about how state government officials are demolishing their homes.
“Hundreds of Igbo people in Lagos have called me for hours on end to lament the loss of their homes. “I am under constant pressure on this issue,” Igbokwe remarked.
He claims that “having been in Lagos for over 40 years, I know their humongous investment of Igbo in Lagos” and that Igbos have played a significant role in the city’s development.
“I am under assault. I’m worn out. I’m worn out. I’m crying. I am weakened. I’m not strong. Every day, I am under pressure. I’m looking for a solution to this important issue.
“I want to build understanding bridges. Bridges for reciprocal partnerships are what I seek. I want Lagos to be at peace. He declared, “I want a new agreement with Igbo and the Yorubas in Lagos.”
Babjide San-wolu, the governor of the state, was urged by the APC leader to “look into the matter and find an amicable solution to the problem.”
