Fubara Comments on Choosing Weakness in Political Battle With Wike

The governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has given an explanation for his choice to be weak in his political conflict with Nyesom Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

While accepting a Man of the Year award at the New Telegraph Award/Dinner Night on Friday in Lagos State, Fubara reportedly stated that picking weakness was a conscious decision meant to maintain peace, secure political survival, and protect wider national interests.

In his victory address, Fubara discussed the long-standing political tension that has affected Rivers State governance, pointing out that critics have frequently misconstrued his approach as being weak.

He underlined that he made deliberate decisions motivated by a desire to preserve stability.

He remarked, “Today is a very significant day for me and for everyone who has believed in me. I know that you have experienced some unique agony because you believed in me.

I chose to be weak for many reasons, but some people have called some of these pains weakness, while others have called them strength. I’m weak because I desire serenity.

“Weak because we have to live.” Weak because I have to defend the things that are close to my heart and to our beloved country. Being weak is a virtue. It pays when it should.
