Residents of Ikpoba Hill in the Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area erupted in wild celebration as Edo State Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo made an unplanned visit of the Ramat Park flyover project, which is currently roughly 90% finished.
As homeowners, business owners, traders, market women, and drivers shouted and chanted in support of what many referred to as a historic infrastructure initiative intended to reduce traffic congestion along the popular axis, the atmosphere was carnivalesque.
Governor Okpebholo, who was beaming, thanked the crowd for their support and welcomed the applause, adding that the flyover is a part of his administration’s mission to fulfill campaign pledges and upgrade Edo State’s road situation.
Speaking to reporters following the visit, Okpebholo said he was pleased with the contractor’s work’s caliber and speed.
“We are happy with the quality and pace of the work thus far, and everything is moving along nicely. There is around 10% of the project left. He stated that it should be finished in the upcoming month or two.
For Edo people, we are doing everything we can. The quality and delivery of the contractor’s work are up to our standards. We’ll keep making sure that each project is carried out to the necessary standard.
Although he admitted that the current development might pose temporary traffic issues, he thanked the locals for their support and patience.
Even with the construction-related traffic jams, Edo residents have continued to show solidarity. They are content since they can see how our actions are having an effect. He went on to say, “Many people in the state have never seen this project before.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was also thanked by Governor Okpebholo for his support of Edo State’s development initiatives.
“We are grateful for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s assistance.” That assistance allows us to deploy the resources we are using for this and other projects. He stated, “Edo State is making great progress.
During the visit, a few locals who spoke gave the governor high marks for starting what they called people-focused programs.
For local commuters and business owners, the flyover is a huge comfort, according to shopkeeper Josephine Isaac.
“This is unlike anything we’ve ever witnessed. As demonstrated by this administration, the people come first. “We are grateful for the governor’s excellent work,” she stated.
Similarly, Mr. Frank Ojekata, a commercial driver on the Ikpoba Hill route, stated that the initiative will long-term alleviate the region’s chronic traffic jams.
Our long-standing traffic issue will be lessened with this flyover. He declared, “This project is a legacy.”
When finished, the Ramat Park flyover is anticipated to greatly enhance traffic flow and stimulate the local economy in Benin City’s Ikpoba Hill and surrounding areas.
The governor was accompanied on the inspection by top government officials, including APC State Deputy Chairman Sylvester Aigboboh, APC Edo Central Senatorial Leader Gen. Cecil Esekhagbe (rtd), and Special Adviser on Projects Implementation and Monitoring Engineer Phoebe Williams-Bello.
