Senate Proposes Extra N30 Billion for INEC to Facilitate 2027 Elections

For the country’s general elections in 2027, the Nigerian Senate has taken a new step to boost the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) budget.

According to reports, the Senate is asking for an extra ₦30 billion so that INEC can hold the 2027 election.

The Senate committee on electoral matters took the action after attributing the anticipated increase to logistical concerns.

Recall that INEC first suggested allocating roughly ₦873 billion for the elections.

Details will be provided later.
