During a tough midnight combat that lasted many hours, security troops of the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI successfully repelled coordinated terrorist attacks intended to overwhelm military posts in Konduga, Marte, Jakana, and Mainok.
Between 10:30 p.m. and 3:00 a.m., the assailants launched simultaneous strikes, but the troops put up a strong fight and held their defensive positions.
The insurgents were disorganized and forced to retreat by the tactical flanking maneuvers carried out by reinforcement units. When there were sporadic breaches, soldiers quickly regained control by launching counterattacks. Several rebel commanders and leaders were neutralized, according to security officials, while more combatants were killed during the counteroffensive.
Precision airstrikes were coordinated with ground forces to target hostile positions and escaping insurgents, according to a statement released by media information officer Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba. Exploitation teams are still recovering weapons and equipment from the fighting areas, and the operations further reduced the capabilities of the insurgents. Authorities emphasized that all military installations are still under government control while acknowledging some structural damage.
Officials noted that the military’ prompt action prevented serious security breaches and safeguarded civilian neighborhoods, characterizing the thwarted attack as proof of increasing pressure on terrorist networks. The theater’s operations will continue to undermine insurgent capabilities and bring about enduring peace.
Unfortunately, there were deaths among the soldiers as a result of the fight, including a senior officer who was killed while commanding troops to defend their positions. According to military authorities, his sacrifice is a testament to the commitment and expertise of those who serve the country.
As efforts continue, residents in impacted communities have been asked to stay alert and notify security services of any suspicious activity.
