DIG Frank Mba’s retirement from the Nigeria Police Force has been lamented by Aisha Yesufu, a prominent member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The Deputy Inspector-General of Police and a number of other top officers are reportedly retiring as a result of recent changes in the organization’s leadership.
Following the confirmation of Tunji Disu as the new police chief and the resignation of former Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun, a number of senior officials have been placed on the retirement list.
In response, Aisha Yesufu expressed her sadness at the development in a post on X, accusing high-ranking government officials of nepotism and tribalism.
She commented, “I am deeply disappointed by DIG Frank Mba’s retirement! An officer has a lot to give the country, particularly the police department, which is in dire need of reform!
“How can we combat terrorism when our security architecture has become a joke?
“Terrorists will prevail when nepotism, tribalism, and a lack of merit are the norm!”
