Nigerians and military personnel were reassured by President Bola Tinubu on Friday night that the nation would eventually overcome all types of insecurity.
The president declared that Nigeria’s valiant military personnel’s sacrifices would never be in vain.
At an ecumenical breaking of fast with military personnel at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Tinubu made the promise.
He restated the administration’s dedication to the well-being of commanders and soldiers on the front lines.
“With regard to my recent authorization to the Nigerian Armed Forces, I have listened to the Chief of Army Staff.
“Knowing full well that you are frequently away from your families, it is my responsibility to thank all of you on behalf of a grateful nation.”
He pointed out that while defending the country, many military troops still have to deal with attacks by terrorists and bandits.
“I applaud your bravery, selflessness, and professionalism as you risk your lives to defend Nigeria’s sovereignty and the security of its citizens. Some of you are under attack by terrorists and bandits.”
The president claimed that the valiant efforts of the armed forces had continued to weaken the capabilities of bandits and terrorist organizations that were active throughout the nation.
“You have been putting forth endless effort to defend our sovereignty and serve the nation.
“I promise that your sacrifices will not be in vain, and this nation will always be grateful to you,” he declared.
In order to improve operational efficacy, Tinubu also promised the Armed Forces ongoing investments in cutting-edge machinery, intelligence, and logistics.
He expressed gratitude to Nigerians for their perseverance and support throughout the ongoing economic changes.
“I’m glad to tell you that the sacrifices you and your fellow citizens have made are not in vain; we are now emerging from the dark tunnel.”
Regarding the latest terrorist incident in Borno State, Tinubu also expressed his condolences to the state’s government and citizens.
Earlier, Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, the Chief of Army Staff, on behalf of Chief of Defense Staff Gen. Oluwafemi Oluyode, praised the President for approving measures that improved employee welfare.
“I would want to thank the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces for giving me the chance to commemorate the breaking of fast for both religions,
He declared, “We have the chance to renew our service and commitment to our fatherland during this unique period.”
Shaibu expressed gratitude to the president for authorizing the increase in military personnel’s pay and benefits.
“These permissions also cover the purchase of equipment and the provision of suitable housing for Armed Forces personnel.
“They are well received by all members of the Armed Forces and will go a long way in enhancing our operational efficiency,” Shaibu continued.
