Rivers APC Suspends Siminal Fubara Over Alleged Anti-Party Activities

Fubara Dagogo, a well-known member of the Bonny Local Government Area, has been suspended by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State.

Following accusations of serious wrongdoing and anti-party activity against the party leader, the Ward 4 Executive Committee made the decision.

Dagogo filed a lawsuit against the APC on its impending national convention, which sparked the crisis.

He went to an Abuja Federal High Court and asked for an order to stop the party’s scheduled event.

Dagogo claimed in his lawsuit that he was unfairly barred from running for National Vice-Chairman (South-South).

Dagogo allegedly paid N5.1 million for the nomination form, but he said the party would not give him the paperwork needed to formally run for office.

He then asked the court to acknowledge his eligibility for the role and suspend the South-South zonal congress.

He also requested N100 million in damages for what he called “marginalization” and sought the nullification of any election held without his participation.

His ward’s leadership in Bonny, however, saw this legal action as a clear transgression of the party’s internal rules.

Richard Ibani, the Ward Chairman, declared the suspension, claiming that the motion was approved at a committee meeting on March 16.

Donald Jumbo, the Ward Secretary, and twenty-one other executive members signed the letter attesting to his dismissal.

According to the ward leaders, Dagogo’s acts violated the APC Constitution 2022 as amended and were a disgrace to the party. They specifically referenced Articles 21.2 (I), (II), and (VII), which address member behavior and party discipline.

The committee stated that they had previously warned members against actions that would make fun of the party in a sharply worded statement.

“The ward exco has always advised its members to desist from actions capable of ridiculing our party, but your recent actions have shown that you are not willing to respect and abide by the constitution and actions of our great party,” the statement read.

The indefinite suspension went into effect right away.

The ward leadership has also called on the state secretariat to uphold the resolution and apply further necessary actions.
