Journalists Denied Access as Court Schedules April 14 Ruling on El-Rufai’s Bail

The former governor of the state, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, submitted a bail plea, and a Federal High Court in Kaduna State has scheduled a ruling for April 14.

The defense team’s leader, Mr. Oluwole Iyamu (SAN), revealed this to reporters soon after the court hearings.

Reporters were not permitted to enter the courtroom to cover the day’s proceedings, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

According to Iyamu, the judge postponed making a decision after both sides had debated the bail motion.

“The decision regarding that bail has been scheduled for April 14th, after the bail application was contested and addressed,” he stated.

The senior advocate was hopeful that the court would render a just ruling.

“Any attorney will have optimism. We feel optimistic. This is a court of justice, and we have presented our reasons to the court. He continued, “We eagerly await the court’s ruling.

Iyamu stated that the defense team is ready for a different case that would take place at the Federal High Court in Abuja on April 10.

“That’s another one. We, the lawyers, are prepared. He stated that the Department of State Services (DSS) was interested in the matter and added, “We have filed the necessary papers and we will be there.”

According to NAN, El-Rufai’s bail request was postponed till Wednesday by the court on Tuesday.

The public’s increased interest in the high-profile corruption trial was reflected in the adjournment that followed hearings that were conducted under strict security.

El-Rufai is on trial before Justice Rilwan M. Aikawa on a ten-count accusation that includes allegations of money laundering, conversion, and ownership of public property.
