In honor of this year’s Easter celebration, the Federal Government has designated Friday, April 3, and Monday, April 6, 2026, as public holidays.
Good Friday is on April 3, while Easter Monday is on April 6.
Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the interior minister, revealed this in a statement on Wednesday.
On this occasion, he congratulated Christians in Nigeria and the diaspora.
“I congratulate all Christians in Nigeria and in the diaspora on the joyous occasion of Easter,” Tunji-Ojo said, urging Nigerians to consider the values associated with the season. I implore Nigerians to emulate Jesus Christ’s life and teachings in terms of selflessness, forgiveness, forbearance, and love.
He emphasized the value of peaceful cooperation and urged citizens to unite.
Easter serves as a reminder of the principles of community and tolerance that unite our country. For the advancement of our nation, Nigerians should continue to be dedicated to these principles,” the minister stated.
Additionally, Tunji-Ojo reaffirmed the Federal Government’s dedication to national development-oriented initiatives.
“Making decisions that would bring about national rebirth, economic growth, and shared prosperity for all Nigerians is still the government’s goal,” he continued.
The pastor wishes Christians a joyful and tranquil Easter.
