Four people were killed in a single collision in front of Christopher University on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, according to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun Command.
Eight more people were hurt, according to a statement released on Monday in Abeokuta by the command’s public relations officer, Mr. Afolabi Odunsi.
According to Odunsi, the collision happened around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday and included a commercial Toyota Hiace bus with registration number AGL 789 YL.
He claimed that there were thirteen people engaged in the collision, including two adult ladies and eleven adult males.
“Four adult males lost their lives in the crash, while eight people were injured, including seven adult males and one adult female,” he stated.
According to Odunsi, an initial inquiry revealed that the driver lost control of the car due to a speeding ticket and a punctured tire.
He claimed that shortly after the incident, the Mowe Unit Command’s FRSC rescue personnel arrived on the area and conducted rescue operations.
The PRO also stated that the bodies of the deceased were placed in the Idera morgue, while the injured victims were sent to Famobis Hospital for medical attention.
He stated that the Redeemed Police Station’s Motor Traffic Division (MTD) had received the recovered vehicle and the passengers’ things.
According to Odunsi, Mr. Akinwunmi Fasakin, the Ogun State Sector Commander, expressed sympathy to the families of the deceased.
Before starting any travel, he advised drivers to make sure their tires were in good condition and to respect speed limits.
