Members of the “City Boy Movement” (CBM) are allegedly selling their conscience for personal benefit, according to veteran actor and politician Kenneth Okonkwo.
In a recent interview with Symfoni TV, Okonkwo claimed that the supporters of President Bola Tinubu’s reelection campaign are political scavengers.
According to him, their alignment is comparable to the current administration “feeding on crumbs” that fall off the President’s table.
Okonkwo went on to say that the Igbo people had distanced themselves from the movement.
He maintained that the conduct of some local politicians who have supported the president do not reflect the dignity or collective will of the Ndigbo.
“They have been rejected by the Igbo. It is demeaning to Ndigbo. We eat fresh meat and hunt with dignity, much like lions, which is why we wear our Isiagu. Unlike vultures, we don’t scavenge,” Okonkwo said.
He went on to call people using the movement to gain political favor “political children drinking from the feeding bottle of Tinubu” and stated that he would prefer to keep his dignity than pursue importance through “rotten crumbs.”
Okonkwo, who has emerged as a leading opposition figure in recent years, insisted that his income has always stemmed from his abilities and capabilities rather than political favoritism.
