Melaye Explains Exit from APC, Cites Toxic Political Environment

Dino Melaye, a former senator from Kogi West, has explained why he left the All Progressives Congress. He said that the way things were going in the party made him want to leave.

He talked about his time in the ruling party and why he decided to leave during an interview on the Mic On Podcast hosted by Seun Akinbaloye.

Melaye said that the party’s atmosphere became dangerous and no longer fit with his beliefs. He said that the political environment around him at the time became too much for him to handle, so he had to leave to protect himself and think about where he was going.

He said that making his choice was like a big change in his life and political journey. He made it clear that he didn’t leave the party right away; he thought about his future carefully before making the decision.

He said, “I was working in a satanic environment.” I was in a dangerous place and had to leave. I had to change, just like Saul did when he went to Damascus and became Paul.

The former lawmaker, who was known for often speaking out against the government and political systems, said he needed to change his position and find a way that better fit his goals.
