JAMB Explains Delay in UTME Results Release

The results of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, which was held on Friday, April 17, 2026, were delayed, and the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has expressed regret for this.

Candidates were irritated by the delay as the board had already promised to reveal the second set of results on Saturday.

JAMB spokesperson Fabian Benjamin said in a statement released on Sunday that the chief executive of the board was unavailable because of an official engagement.

The message said, “We sincerely apologize for the delay in releasing the results for Friday, April 17, which is the second batch in the series, as earlier promised.”

The results will be released later on Sunday, the board promised the candidates.

Benjamin said, “We assure you that the results will be released later today, definitely before nightfall. Our Chief Executive was unavailable due to an important engagement but would be in the office today.”

Candidates who waited through the night were also apologized to by JAMB.

“We also sincerely apologize to everyone who remained up to watch the release. The statement said, “Thank you for your understanding and patience.

This comes after the first set of results for applicants who took the test on Thursday, April 16, 2026, were released earlier.

According to JAMB, 632,788 results have already been released.

Candidates were instructed to submit “UTMERESULT” to 55019 or 66019 using the phone number associated with their registration in order to view their results via SMS.
