Udenta Udenta: Nasir El-Rufai Shouldn’t Be Detained Over Investigation

Prof. Udenta Udenta, a fellow at the Abuja School of Social and Political Thought, says that Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, should not be held in jail forever while the investigation is going on.

Udenta said this on Wednesday during an interview on the Arise Television show “Prime Time.”

He said they should leave El-Rufai alone and that the former governor is innocent until proven guilty. They can still do their investigations without him being in jail.

The professor also said that they could take El-Rufai’s passport and keep him from moving around.

“You can’t keep a man in jail forever while you’re looking into something. “That’s not fair,” he said.

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has had El-Rufai in their custody since he got back from Egypt.

He was accused of wiretapping the office of Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser (NSA), and later taken to another court in Kaduna State.
