During a patrol in Niger State’s Borgu Local Government Area, troops from Operation SAVANNAH SHIELD arrested two people they thought were terrorists.
Zagazola Makama, an expert on counterinsurgency and security in the Lake Chad region, said this in a statement on X.
Makama said that the troops at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Babanna caught the suspects at Babanna Market around 5:00 p.m. on April 20.
He said that the suspects had one round of 7.62mm special ammunition, two cell phones, and other random items that were found.
The security expert also said that the suspects are now in military custody for more investigation and action that needs to be taken.
Makama said, “The operation is part of ongoing efforts by security forces to stop terrorist activities and make the region safer.”
