Borno Youths Rally Support, Raise N38.5m for Ali Ndume

Thousands of young people from Southern Borno have given ₦38.5 million to help Senator Ali Ndume run for the Senate in 2027.

It was said that the fundraising event, which took place on Saturday at Forshams Hall in Maiduguri, had more than 2,000 people from all nine local government areas of the district.

The people who gave money, mostly youth groups and community groups, said they did so on purpose to keep what they called a “fearless and people-driven legislator” in the Senate.

Babandi Shehu, the youth coordinator in charge of the project, said that the intervention was not just a symbolic act but a planned political statement at a time when, in his opinion, Nigeria needs brave leaders in government.

“Senator Ndume has set himself apart as one of the few leaders who always tell the truth to power,” Shehu said.

“This isn’t just about funding forms; it’s also about protecting representation that puts the people first and holds the executive accountable.”

Participants said that Ndume’s past work in both legislation and constituency development is a good reason for their early and collective support.

Ndume’s Senior Legislative Aide, Junaid Jibril Maiva, backed this up by talking about what he called a legacy of service that made a difference for more than ten years.

He said that the senator has sponsored more than 70 bills aimed at national development and helped set up important federal institutions in Southern Borno and the larger North-East.
