Sokoto APC Rep Ambarura Defects to ADC

Isah Ambarura, a member of the House of Representatives, has dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Ambarura is Deputy Chairman House Committee on Rules and Business and represents Illela/Gwadabawa Federal Constituency of Sokoto State.

Benjamin Kalu, Deputy Speaker of the House, read his defection notice during plenary on Wednesday.

In his letter, Ambarura said he quit the APC after wide consultations with his constituents and political associates.

He said his move to the ADC would help him to serve the people of Illela/Gwadabawa Federal Constituency better.

“My decision on this was informed by circumstances beyond my control within APC, hence compelled me to defect respectively,” he said.

Also, the lawmaker representing Bade/Jakusko Federal Constituency of Yobe State, Jakduwa Kaikuku, decamped to the APC from Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Kaikuku blamed his departure on the “unresolved PDP leadership crisis.”

He described the APC as a “stronger and fairer” platform for political participation and service delivery.

The House has witnessed a number of members changing parties since the beginning of the year in the run up to the 2027 general elections.

On Tuesday, Muhammed Jajere from Fika/Fune Federal Constituency of Yobe State, defected from the PDP to APC.

Last week, four lawmakers from Kano, Sani Wakili of Minjibir/Ungogo Federal Constituency, Muktar Zakari of Tarauni Federal Constituency, Umar Datti of Kura/Madobi/Garun Mallam Federal Constituency and Abdulhakeem Ado of Wudil/Garko Federal Constituency, decamped from the New Nigeria People’s Party to the ADC.

Also defecting from their former parties to the ADC are Thaddeus Attah of Eti-Osa Federal Constituency, Lagos; Usman Zubairu of Birnin Gwari/Giwa Federal Constituency, Kaduna; and Sani Noma of Argungu/Augie Federal Constituency, Kebbi.
