A member of the House of Representatives, Afam Ogene, has lauded the recent political move of former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
Ogene spoke on Wednesday on Channels Television’s ‘Sunrise Daily’ programme.
Obi was also said to have dumped the African Democratic Congress, ADC, for the Nigerian Democratic Congress, NDC, with the former presidential candidate of the New Nigerian Peoples Party, NNPP, Rabi’u Kwankwaso on Sunday.
The lawmaker said, “I thought people should applaud Obi, airing his own opinion. Do you prefer to loll in crisis or go to a conducive atmosphere.
“I don’t want it to be a ‘We vs Them’ issue; otherwise I would have asked you, why Atiku Abubakar didn’t remain in the PDP and handle the crisis that broke out because of his candidacy only four years ago.
Why didn’t he stay back in the various political parties he came out to contest on as their presidential candidate and then left?
“What Mr. Peter Obi wants is a country that works for everybody. “It’s not a political party that is mired in several shenanigans by competing interests in house and by government trying to make sure that he does not even appear on the ballot.”
