Former Rivers State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Austin Tam-George, has said the government of Governor Siminalayi Fubara is their best bet to get away from the self-aggrandisement of Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
This statement was made by Tam-George on Thursday during an interview on ARISE Television’s ‘Prime Time’ programme, it was reported.
Tam-George said Wike has taken self-aggrandisement to a new level, and citizens have objected.
He also criticized Wike’s administration as Governor of Rivers State, emphasizing that there was no civil servant promoted during the eight-year tenure.
He said: “The administration is our best opportunity to escape from Wike’s self-aggrandizement.
“The issue of godfathers is not peculiar to Rivers State as you probably know but what is peculiar in terms of Rivers State is that we have a godfather who has taken prebendal politics to a whole new stratosphere.
“We have a former governor who has taken personal aggrandizement to the point where the people have to say no, this cannot be accepted.
“We who support Fubara’s administration do so because it is our best chance to get out of the prebendal, self-aggrandizing politics that Wike personifies.
“No civil servant was promoted in Rivers State in the course of Wike’s eight-year administration.
Like I said before, the Governor was wise enough, like Governor Fubara, to gravitate towards meeting the needs of the people.
