Desmond Elliott Pledges Loyalty To All Progressives Congress, Says He’ll Support Any Candidate Chosen By Party
Lagos lawmaker and Nollywood actor, Desmond Elliot says he will remain loyal to the All Progressives Congress (APC) even if asked to step aside for another candidate.
He was said to have disclosed this in an interview on TVC where he spoke about calls from some people to quit his current party and join another.
“Many people have come to me and suggested that I should defect,” he said. But he dismissed the idea, saying he was brought into politics on the back of his party’s support and felt a sense of commitment to it.
If the party finally decides that he should step aside and support another candidate, he would follow suit and support whoever is selected, he added.
“I remain loyal to the party that gave me a platform to serve,” Elliott said.
He said, “So many people called and said, ‘Hey, go to another party. I said, ‘A different party? How? Daddy brought me from nowhere. “If the party says, ‘Desmond, you have done well, go and sit down,’ I will sit down and support whoever the party selects.”
In other news, Elliot has apologised to the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, for any offence that may have arisen from his political engagements.
He told TVC’s Your View on Friday that any misunderstanding between them was not intentional and he was offering the apology.
The apology follows earlier tensions over the Lagos State House of Assembly leadership crisis.
