WAFU U-17: Golden Eaglets sneak into semi-finals
The Golden Eaglets have qualified for the semi-finals of the West African Football Union B U-17 tournament at the expense of Ghana.
The Nigerian youngsters needed a favour from Cote d’Ivoire to reach the last four of the competition and they were duly obliged.
After drawing 1-1 with Ghana and losing 1-0 to Cote d’Ivoire in their three-team group, the Eaglets needed the young Elephants to beat the Black Starlets by at least a two-goal margin to advance.
Cote d’Ivoire did the favour, beating Ghana 3-1 in Tuesday’s final group match in Lome.
With the result, Cote d’Ivoire topped Group B with six points, while Nigeria finished second with one point, ahead of Ghana on goal difference.
