Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa has promised to help Kano Pillars win the Nigeria Professional Football League title after rejoining the club on a short-term deal.
The 28-year-old has made a sensational return to the club he left for Europe in 2009, signing up until the end of the current season.
“I left Pillars over 10 years ago without winning the league then but now, by God grace, I will make a special record by leading the club to the Nigeria Professional Football League title,” Musa vowed during his official unveiling in Kano on Thursday night.
The former Leicester City star was formally unveiled at Kano Pillars secretariat late on Thursday night and handed the No.7 jersey, the iconic number he has worn for the Super Eagles for years.
Musa completed the ceremonial contract signing during the unveiling to seal his move to the Kano club as an Elite Player on a special collaboration between the club and the League Management Club.
The forward, Nigeria’s top World Cup scorer with four goals at the global competition, said he would do his best to help raise the profile of the NPFL.
The former CSKA Moscow forward admitted people did not understand why he returned to the club but explained that he had a mission.
Kano Pillars chairman, Alhaji Surajo Shuaibu Jambul, assured Musa that the club would not stand in his way if an offer comes for his services from abroad.
Musa, who has had stints in The Netherlands, Russia, England and Saudi Arabia, had been unattached since he left Saudi club Al Nasr in October.
Pillars are currently second in the NPFL table with 36 points from 19 matches, behind leaders Kwara United only on goal difference.
