SUPER Eagles striker Victor Osimhen was the star of Napoli’s first pre-season match on Sunday, scoring four goals in a 12-0 win over non-league team Bassa Anaunia.

The Nigerian international played only 45 minutes of the friendly but it was enough for him to register a hat-trick plus one against the minnows.

Elif Elmas opened the floodgates of goals in the fourth minute with the opening strike before Osimhen took over.

The gangly Nigerian made it 2-0 in the eighth minute with a dink over the goalkeeper and then scored three of Napoli’s next four goals.

Kostas Manolas’ header from a corner extended Napoli’s lead in the 15th minute, and then it was the Osimhen show in the next 22 minutes.

The Super Eagles star netted with a shot from the edge of the box in the 20th minute to make it 4-0, rounded the keeper and slotted into an empty net in the 35th minute, and completed his scoring two minutes later to give his side a 6-0 lead.

Napoli’s new manager Luciano Spalletti made wholesale changes at half-time and Osimhen was one of the players to make way, much to the relief of Bassa Anaunia.

The Serie A side added five more goals against the hapless lower leaguers in the second half to complete a 12-0 demolition job, but nobody scored as many as Osimhen’s four goals.

Napoli finished fifth last season, missing fourth place and a UEFA Champions League spot by a whisker after only drawing at home with Verona on the final matchday when a win would have guaranteed top four.

Spalletti replaced Gennaro Gattuso and Sunday’s huge win was his first match in charge.
