Popular Nigerian singer, Olawale Olofooro, better known as Brymo, has asserted that the Igbo-speaking southeast region of the country is ‘not yet ripe for presidency’.
One of the four major candidates for next month’s presidential elections, Peter Obi of the Labour Party hails from the zone.
Brymo opined that “as long as there is talk about Biafra in the South East the desire for an Igbo president will remain a pipe dream”.
In a tweet late Wednesday, the singer, who is supporting Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), said that as long as there is talk about Biafra in the South East, the desire for an Igbo president will remain a pipe dream.
“Well.. no other tribe seems to have a new country yet… as long as there talks by prominent people from Igboland about Biafra an Igbo presidency will be a pipe dream,” Brymo said.
His tweet elicited mixed reactions with Labour Party supporters blasting him for his submission which dismisses the chances of their candidate in the presidential election.
