Gov. Seyi Makinde, the winner of the Oyo State governorship election held on March 18, called on his rivals on Saturday in Ibadan to work with him to take Oyo State to new heights.

“The election campaign is over, and we must now focus on the governance issue.

On a radio program, Makinde said, “This is our state and commonwealth, and we must make sure we move our state forward.”

He referred to his electoral victory as a victory for the people of Oyo State and declared himself amenable to working with the ideas of his rivals in any situation where they were judged to be more effective than his.

He asserted that everyone must now work together for the benefit of Oyo State and that infrastructure development will help him reach more people.

He stressed that he would continue to build on the strong foundation already set in the previous four years and pledged to deliver quality projects that would affect all areas of the state.

The governor continued by saying that he would actively continue to develop the state as he had since taking office in 2019 and would also put the sticky points learned during the campaigns into practice.

Elder statesmen and women, businesspeople, labor unions, market associations, and religious organizations that supported him before, during, and after the election were all appreciated by Makinde.

In addition, he stated that during his second term in office, his administration would touch a larger portion of Oyo State’s population and expand its infrastructure.

In his second term, he insisted that hiring teachers and other non-teaching staff, as well as expanding the infrastructure for education, would be given top priority.

If they were not connected to fraud, Makinde added, the administration would hire back many of the dismissed employees.

The governor promised to re-award the contract for the renovation of the Agbowo Shopping Complex, which is located next to the main entrance to the University of Ibadan. (NAN)
