The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has suspended Iyorchia Ayu, its national chairman.

The party’s Igyorov Ward Ward Executive in the Gboko Local Government Area, LGA, of the state of Benue suspended Ayu.

Dr. Ayu was suspended by the Executive for alleged anti-party activities, according to the Ward Secretary Mr. Vangeryina Dooyum, who spoke to the media on Sunday on behalf of Kashi Philip, the Ward Chairman.

According to the Secretary, the leadership reviewed the National Chairman’s behavior at the conclusion of the recently completed general elections before making the decision to suspend him.

He claims, “We noticed with the utmost dismay that Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, the PDP’s National Chairman, worked against the party’s success in the Igyorov Council Ward.

It has been noted that he has also neglected to pay his annual subscription fees as required by Section 8(9) of the PDP 2017 constitution (As Amended).

“Further investigation also showed that he did not cast a ballot in the March 18, 2023, Governorship and State Assembly Elections.

The majority of his closest allies were found to be working for the All Progressive Congress, or APC, which contributed to the PDP’s dismal performance in the Igyorov Ward.

As a result of the aforementioned, we hereby vote against Dr. Iyorchia Ayu and suspend him from the party with immediate effect. The ban is in place as of March 24, 2023.
