A truck driver died and four other people were injured in an accident in Anambra State.
On Sunday, a truck and a Honda CRV carrying five people collided at Nteje area in Oyi local government area on the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway.
It was discovered that the deceased Honda driver was about to cross the intersection when the truck travelling in the opposite direction rammed into it after losing control.
Adeoye Irelewuyi, the sector commander for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), confirmed the incident and blamed speed and loss of control for the collision.

He expressed sympathy to the families of the deceased and offered prayers for the injured, and he cautioned drivers to avoid driving too fast and to check the condition of their vehicles before starting any journey.
On the Onitsha-Nteje-Awka Expressway, on April 16, 2023, before Ukpo Junction, a fatal traffic accident was reported, the speaker said.The accident involved two vehicles: a private Honda CRV with registration number LFA 224 TN and a commercial Howo truck (10 tyres) with registration number JUX 95 XA.
“Speed and the truck driver’s loss of control were the most likely causes of the fatal road traffic accident.
“The crash involved five people, all of whom were male adults. Four of the men suffered injuries of varying severity, and one man, the driver of the CRV, died as a result of his injuries.

The Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu Teaching Hospital Amaku, Awka, received the crash victims.
The deceased victim is still pinned beneath the truck in the meantime. The trapped body is being attempted to be removed by FRSC personnel at RS5.33 Nteje Unit Command. Personnel on the ground are controlling traffic and making sure any obstruction is removed, he said.
