In the midst of a dispute between Prof. Wole Soyinka and the Obidients, Mr. Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Labour Party, visited the Nobel Prize winner.
Playwright Soyinka had been dragged by Obidents, a nickname for Peter Obi’s supporters, over a comment he made criticising the LP’s vice presidential candidate, Datti Baba-Ahmed.
On the other hand, Obi celebrated Soyinka’s success on the international stage and his fight for a better Nigeria on Sunday via his Twitter account.
He declared that Soyinka’s pursuit of justice would never be disregarded.

He clarified that the purpose of the trip was to dispel any unwarranted myths about Soyinka and the Obidients movement.
“I treasured this Sunday’s visit,” he wrote in the post, “which was intended to dispel the unnecessary myths about the relationship between the great icon and the Obidient family.”
Obi, who finished third in the February 25th presidential election behind President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is currently contesting the results at the Tribunal, which is scheduled to open on May 8th, 2023.
