Preparations for the inauguration of President-elect Bola Tinubu are in high gear, as President Muhammadu Buhari has moved into the Glass House at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The iconic residence is said to have served as a transitional abode for the outgoing president and their spouse during the handover period.

The Glass House has also traditionally played an important role in power transitions, serving as a symbolic and practical space for the outgoing president and their spouse.

Aisha Buhari, the First Lady, revealed this in a video posted to her Instagram page after showing the incoming First Lady, Senator Remi Tinubu, around the State House.

With only Aisha Buhari and her husband currently residing there, the outgoing first lady expressed her belief that the house should continue to accommodate only the incumbent president and their spouse during the transition period, as it has done in the past.

During the tour, Aisha Buhari led Senator Remi Tinubu through the various areas of the house, explaining their significance and history in detail.

“I have shown the incoming First Lady, Senator Remi Tinubu, around,” she said. She’s seen the main house, and we’ve arrived at the popular glass house. The Glass House serves as the outgoing president’s temporary residence.

“I recommend that the Glass House continue its tradition of serving as a transitional office for the outgoing president.” I am currently residing here with my husband as I speak to you. There are only two of us here, and I believe this should be the norm for the institution and the house.”

Senator Tinubu was both impressed and humbled by the experience, recognizing the overwhelming amount of information she received in such a short period of time.
