A 24-hour curfew was imposed in the council area of the Mangu Local Government Area of the Plateau on Sunday night.
In a statement released on Sunday night, Markus Artu, the LGA’s interim management committee chairman, said: “A 24-hour curfew has been declared in the Mangu Local Government Area. As a result, there won’t be any kind of vehicle movement.
“In addition, all motorcycle movement has been prohibited indefinitely. Only security personnel and employees performing necessary duties will be permitted to move.
It was discovered that the curfew was declared in response to a recent terrorist invasion of some local communities.

The development was confirmed by Bala Fwangji, a lawmaker from the Mangu South constituency, who spoke with our correspondent on the phone on Sunday night.
“All I can tell you is that war has been declared against our people in Mangu,” the lawmaker said. They simply target and murder our people everywhere they go. The attacks began in the Bwai neighborhood today, moved to Mangu town, and are now in Sabon Gari. The needs of our people are urgent. A 24-hour curfew has been imposed in the LGA by the local government authority in order to control the situation.
When contacted about the recent attacks in Mangu communities, Alabo Alfred, the spokesman for the Plateau State Police Command, could not be reached. However, the police command had earlier sent its mobile units to the troubled LGA and other areas in the state in an effort to shield the populace from ongoing terrorist attacks.
