President Bola Tinubu has received congratulations from the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture on his selection as the head of the Economic Community of West African States.

The President of NACCIMA, Mr. Dele Oye, said this in a statement issued on Sunday in Lagos.

Recall that at the 63rd Ordinary Session of the regional organization in Guinea Bissau, Tinubu was elected Chairman of ECOWAS.

The appointment, according to Oye, came as the ECOWAS region was preparing its members for a successful integration into the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

Nigeria, the largest economy in Africa, was reported to be expected to play a significant role in both the region and the continent.

However, the NACCIMA president emphasized the need to deal with some of the difficulties that intra-West African trade faces.

He pointed out that there were still a number of obstacles, such as lengthy procedures, expensive transportation, and corruption, impeding the free flow of products and services within the region.

These problems, according to Oye, had stifled regional trade growth and hampered West Africans’ ability to prosper economically.

More than at any other time in its history, Nigeria is held in high regard among its African counterparts.

“We are aware of your credentials as an accomplished politician and savvy administrator with an excellent track record in leadership and governance.

“We have every faith that you would apply your vast experience and knowledge to the problems the region is currently facing.

He added, “We are optimistic that you will be able to address these concerns head-on and put regulations in place that will make doing business in the region easier.

Additionally, he pledged to assist and work alongside the Nigerian president in advancing trade, investment, and economic growth in West Africa.
