The death of an eight-month-old baby in the most recent violence in the states of Plateau and Benue was called as “unfortunate” by President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday in Abuja.

He ordered the security services to track down the murderers and demand that they be subjected to the full force of the law.

The President’s Special Advisor on Special Duties, Communications, and Strategy, Dele Alake, issued a statement on Tuesday that read, “It is most unfortunate that in this orgy of violence, an innocent eight-month-old baby in Farin Lamba community of Vwang District, Jos South Local Government, died in a conflict she knew nothing about.”

The President expressed concern and anguish over the occurrence and condemned the deaths in Mangu and several areas of Benue State in a statement titled “Plateau killings: We must break this cycle of bloodshed.”

“A key consequence of continuous conflict is usually the awful loss of innocent life,” the President stated, describing the festering retaliation strikes as “necessary and “avoidable.”

The statement added, “While reiterating his administration’s strong commitment to eradicating violent crimes and all other types of criminalities throughout Nigeria, the President has urged security services to fish out the perpetrators of the heinous atrocities to face the full wrath of law.”
