Ivan Omhonrina, a two-year-old boy, was killed by a stray bullet during a police operation at Okpanam in the Delta State local government area of Oshimili North on Tuesday, and President Bola Tinubu expressed sorrow over his passing.
In order to punish those found guilty, the President instructed the NDLEA management to look into the incident quickly and thoroughly.
Ivan did not merit to pass away in that manner. We need to make sure that the incident didn’t end that way and that what happened to Ivan doesn’t happen to anyone else again, Tinubu said in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Special Duties, Communications, and Strategy, Dele Alake.

When NDLEA agents raided the Okpanam neighbourhood of Asaba, the capital city of Delta, they accidentally shot the child, according to NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi, who confirmed this on Saturday.
Babafemi disclosed that the victim passed away in the hospital while receiving care.
The President, however, said in a statement titled “President Tinubu sympathises with parents of a two-year-old killed by a stray bullet in Delta,” “I mourn the death of little Ivan Omhonrina and sympathise with his parents for the painful experience of losing an innocent child in a most tragic manner.”
In order to prevent putting the lives of uninvolved Nigerians in danger, Tinubu criticised the incident as unacceptable and urged security personnel to conduct their operations with greater professionalism and caution.
It was a terrible incident. The President stated, “We must find out who caused the Omhonrinas’ agony and make sure they are brought to justice.
He prayed for the deceased’s one-year-old sibling, who is said to have suffered an eye injury in the tragic incident, to recover quickly.
