Muslims, Christians intercede for harmony, rain in Borno

On Friday, tens of thousands of Muslims and Christians gathered in Maiduguri to pray for tranquility and consistent rain in Borno.

The News Agency of Nigeria reported that while Christian believers of various denominations gathered at First Baptist Church, Maiduguri, for the prayers on Friday, Muslim believers observed the prayer in their respective mosques.

Abubakar Garbai El-Kanemi, the Shehu of Borno, and representatives of the Christian Association of Nigeria urged the faithful to pray for divine intervention regarding the lack of rainfall on Thursday.

Additionally, the Shehu ordered all district and village chiefs in the state to rally their people in support of the needy, orphans, and disabled people during the prayers.

He urged all parents to counsel their children to stop engaging in improper conduct, immoral behavior, social vices, and drug use. He urged businesspeople to conduct their lawful operations in fear of Allah.

The state chairman of CAN, Most Rev John Bakeni, urged faithful to seek God’s face and abide by His ways in their dealings for good tidings during the prayer session for Christians at the Baptist Church.

Additionally, Rev. Emmanuel Morris, Bishop of the Maiduguri Anglican Diocese, prayed to God for peace in the state and abundant rain to produce a bountiful harvest.
