Fuel subsidy: Automobile mobility become luxury in Lagos — Rhodes-Vivour Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour.

According to Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the candidate for governorship of the Labour Party, LP in Lagos state, automotive mobility has now become a luxury in Lagos state as a result of the increase in fuel price precipitated by the elimination of fuel subsidy. Rhodes-Vivour made this statement during his campaign.

On Saturday, Rhodes-Vivour sent a statement using his verified Twitter name in which he made this accusation.

He said, “With the price of fuel being what it is in Lagos, driving an automobile has become a luxury.” However, this administration and the party it belongs to have had the past 23 years to construct an integrated public transit system by making the most of rail lines and waterways. Despite this, they continue to let the people down year after year after year.

“Imagine if people were actually able to use the Blue Line that this administration ‘commissioned’ back in January with much fanfare. It is upsetting to witness other residents justifying and making excuses for the hardship that people are going through in Lagos despite the plunder that could have otherwise been utilised to modernise the state’s infrastructure.

“The APC should direct its efforts on development, wealth, and upliftment. Instead, they should seize the opportunity, take it by the horns, and make a break for it.

It is important to keep in mind that the National Executive Council (NEC) reached an agreement on palliative care for Nigerians during their meeting on Thursday.

At the meeting of the National Economic Council (NEC), which was presided over by Vice President Kashim Shettima and attended by the governors of the 36 states that make up the Federation, it was decided that cash transfers would be handled through state social registers rather than national social registers, subject to the peculiarities of each state.

This comes just a few days after Nigerian President Bola Tinubu recommended transferring N8,000 to each of the nation’s 12 million poorest households on a monthly basis for the next six months in order to ease the financial burden that the loss of gasoline subsidies will place on Nigerians.

According to the President, the distribution of additional funds to low-income households would have a multiplier effect on almost sixty million additional people.

It was said by President Tinubu that the money will be transferred to the homes via electronic means.
