Olugbenga Owolabi, a late hotelier and owner of Tana Farms Limited, has been called for justice by his family.
About a year ago, on August 2, Olugbenga and Rachael Opadele, a worker at his hotel, were kidnapped by assailants in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, and killed by the assailants.
Before deciding to invest in the hospitality industry in his hometown of Ogbomoso, Olugbenga, a citizen of the United States of America, lived in Maryland.
Given that he was kidnapped and killed a few months after his hotel opened in December 2021, City Round learned this information.

In a statement to mark the death anniversary of the deceased, Joshua Owolabi urged the Oyo State Police Command to apprehend the suspects.
He said, “Today, we remember with sadness the first anniversary of the kidnapping of Mr. Olugbenga David Owolabi of Tana Suites and Tana Farms Ltd., our son, brother, husband, father, uncle, cousin, friend, and businessman.
“Olugbenga, Miss Rachael Opadele, a student worker at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology in Ogbomoso, and Mr. Idowu Agbaje, a motorcycle service provider, were all murdered on August 2, 2022, after being kidnapped and subjected to five days of torture.
Although we note from the report of December 23, 2022, that the Oyo State Police Command detained three men of Fulani descent from the same family who were allegedly responsible for the abduction, torture, and killings, as well as other members of the syndicate involved in the sharing of the ransom, we, the families and friends of the victims in Nigeria and the diaspora, have yet to learn of any additional information about the case involving the alleged suspects.
In response to the tragic deaths of these three people and others at the hands of these non-state actors, we have a responsibility to demand justice. We therefore demand that the Oyo State Police Command take the initiative and seek justice on behalf of these men and women from our leading state whose lives were needlessly cut short by these well-documented non-state actors.
