Zephaniah Jisalo, a native of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has been nominated as a minister by President Bola Tinubu, according to Senator Ireti Kingibe of the Labour Party (LP).
Senator Kingibe, who is also from the FCT, is proud of Jisalo for being the first native of the region to be nominated as a minister since the start of the current democratic regime in 1999.
“First of all, let me congratulate my nominee and the entire FCT on this nomination. At the ministerial screening on Friday in Abuja, she declared, “We are all incredibly happy and proud.
“We would like to thank the president and the vice president for actually making this a reality; something that we have been hoping and wishing for a very long time.”
‘Highly Recommended’
While praising the nominee, Senator Kingibe described him as “highly recommended”.
She remarked, “I have known him for so many years before he became local government chairman; he served two terms and then later served two terms in the House of Representatives. He is therefore well-known to me and unquestionably qualified to serve as a minister.
She then requested that Jisalo, a former member of the House of Representatives, be given permission to take a bow.
The lawmaker said, “Therefore, I would urge all of you, in accordance with the protocol that we have been following and as a member of the House – two terms – that he should also take a bow.”
We [FCT people] are so happy, and you know I’m not speechless, but I’m actually speechless.
In order to determine whether the candidate should bow after her speech, Senate President Godswill Akpabio asked the senators. All of the senators endorsed that.
Jisalo, an earlier representative for the region in the House of Representatives, is from the Abuja Municipal/Bwari Constituency. He was also the chairman of the Abuja Municipal Council Area (AMAC), having been born on April 3rd, 1970.
